Foundation Plans First Charity Golf Tournament
Weirton Medical Center Foundation will hold its first charity golf tournament on Monday, September 21 at Williams Country Club in Weirton. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Foundation, which supports the Weirton Medical Center and health projects in the community.
“We’re excited about the tournament,” said Joseph P. Endrich, M.D., president and chief executive officer of Weirton Medical Center and the Foundation. “Williams Country Club offers a challenging yet beautiful course and we are pleased that the Foundation will have its first golf tournament there,” he said.
Kevin Brown, executive director of the Foundation, has assembled a planning committee including several Foundation board members and physicians of the Weirton Medical Center medical staff.
“The committee has been hard at work planning the tournament,” he said. “The tournament will be a scramble format with team play. We’ll have prizes for the top-finishing foursomes, as well as a chance for golfers to compete in skill contests such as the longest drive, closest to the pin, and beat-the-pro. It should be a fun day,” he said.
A buffet lunch will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tee off will be at 1 p.m. and dinner will be available at 6 p.m. The $150 registration fee covers golfing, meals and most beverages.
Sponsorships are available at the platinum ($5,000), gold ($2,500), and silver ($1,500) levels, as well as sponsorships for lunch ($500), and the beverage cart and beverage stations ($500). Each sponsorship level offers benefits for the sponsor. Tee signs are also available for $100 each.
“Our sponsors to-date include the Tri-State Medical Group and Tri-State Pharmacy, BrickStreet Insurance, Assure America and The Pain Center,” said Brown. He said a number of other businesses have signed on as tee sign sponsors. “We’re delighted to have them on board and we hope more local businesses join in with a sponsorship and a foursome.”
Individual golfers and foursomes are encouraged to register. The Foundation has made this easy by offering secure online registration on its website at www.weirtonmedical.com. Golfers and sponsors can also register by calling the Foundation at 304-797-6325.
