| Position Requirements: |
High school diploma or GED. Minimum education level of associate degree or equivalent in work experience (2 years transcribing dictation from a hospital or physician’s office) and continuing education from a school of transcription. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, pharmacology, and the various medical specialties. Knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style. Ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles. Ability to use designated reference materials. Ability to operate designated equipment as specified. Ability to work independently. Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. Ability to concentrate. Excellent listening skills. Excellent eye, hand, and auditory coordination. Certified medical transcriptionist (CMT) status
preferred.

| Experience: |
Minimum of two years experience as a transcriptionist (three years preferred) in an acute care setting using medical terminology in a variety of services or certificate in medical transcription or related required. CMT preferred. Must be able to sit for certification within one year of date of hire. |
