What to expect in the Weirton Medical Center Emergency Department
Did you know patients in the emergency department are not seen on a first come, first serve basis?
Patients in the Emergency Department (ED) are seen based on chief complaint.
That means patients with
*chest pain
*signs and symptoms of stroke
*abdominal pain
*shortness of breath
*a fracture
(for example) will be seen before someone with a non-acute complaint
We are required to do an initial evaluation on your condition before we register you.
Here’s what to expect when you vist the WMC ED:
Step One:
You will see a triage nurse who will determine what may be wrong with you.
Step Two:
It is determined if you will be seen in Weirton Medical Center FasTrack or Emergency
Department.
Step Three:
You are registered by a Weirton Medical Center employee.
Step Four:
You are sent to either
FasTrack or the
Emergency Department for treatment.
Our primary concern is treating you.
